UGC NET 2025 Normalization Procedure:-

To ensure fairness in evaluating candidates appearing in multiple shifts, UGC NET 2025 follows a normalization procedure. This system adjusts the scores of candidates based on the difficulty level of their respective shifts, ensuring uniform assessment across all sessions. The UGC NET exam is conducted in two shifts each day. Since the difficulty of the question papers may vary slightly between shifts, normalization helps standardize the marks using a percentile-based system.

For example:

  • A raw score of 40% may correspond to:
    • 74 percentile in Shift 1
    • 76 percentile in Shift 2

To be eligible under the General category, candidates must score a percentile of 76 or above, regardless of their shift. The same principle applies to reserved categories, with adjusted percentile thresholds based on reservation norms.
